SALESPERSON LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

Sales agents must have 16 hours of continuing education credits for license renewal.

REQUIRED

Vermont Real Estate Commission 4-hour Mandatory course (Note: This course counts towards the 16 hours needed for license renewal)
12-hours elective courses (can include NAR Code of Ethics). Elective courses must be VREC-approved

BROKER LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

Brokers must have 24 hours of continuing education credits for license renewal.

  • 20-hours elective courses (can include NAR Code of Ethics). Elective courses must be VREC-approved

NAR Code of Ethics

In November, 2019, the National Association of Realtors® elected to change Code of Ethics training requirements from every two to every three years.

The current cycle deadline is extended from Dec. 31, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2021.

NAR Code of Ethics classes can be taken in classroom or online. To receive Vermont continuing education credits, the classes must be approved by NAR and the Vermont Real Estate Commission. If approved by VREC, continuing education credits count toward the 12 elective hours of continuing education requirements.

TRACK YOUR CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS

Did you know you can download your real estate CE class certificates online? Class certificates are available for classes that are offered through the Vermont Association of Realtors®. If you completed classes provided by vendors other than VAR, please contact the vendor for your certificate. To download and trace continuing education credits from VAR, please follow these instructions:
  1. Login to member portal here.
  2. Hover over “EVENTS
  3. Click on “MY CLASSES
  4. Click on “DETAILS” under the desired class
  5. Click on “CERTIFICATE
  6. Save certificate to your computer or print

HOW TO RENEW YOUR REAL ESTATE LICENSE

NOTE: You will need copies of your class certificates. Follow directions above to download your VAR certificates. If you completed classes not offered through VAR, you will need to contact the class vendor for your certificates. Certificates must be uploaded in the steps below.

  1. Navigate to the Vermont Real Estate (VREC) Registration page here.
  2. Click Access Your Account (or create a new one if you do not have an account)
  3. Enter your User ID and Password
  4. Once you are in your dashboard, click RENEW LICENSE
  5. Select the license you wish to renew and click NEXT
  6. Continue through the renewal by answering all of the questions on each page (scroll to the bottom to ensure all questions have been answered) and click NEXT
  7. Confirm that you have completed the CE requirements and upload your course completion certificates in the renewal. VREC will accept a PDF or a picture of the document as long as it is readable.
  8. Once you reach the payment screen and submit your payment information, please be sure to wait until you receive the confirmation page that your license has successfully renewed.
